A Choice of Power
The BMW 5 Series is one agile performer. Part of that agility comes from its power sources. Buyers of the 530i and 530i xDrive receive a revised version of BMW's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. It's an improvement over the previous version's 248 hp and 258 lb-ft. Both rear and xDrive all-wheel drive models are matched to an 8-speed automatic transmission with sport and manual shift mode, paddle shift levers and Launch Control.
The 540i xDrive is powered by a 3.0-liter TwinPower turbo inline six-cylinder engine and xDrive all-wheel drive. It delivers 375 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. A mild hybrid system provides a short-term boost up to 398 lb-ft of torque. This 540i powerplant features an improvement over last year's 335-hp and 332 lb-ft of torque.
